Programs OfferedThree Element Social skill Program: Instruction, Drama, & Technology
Read about our current social skill workshop, "Imagine Program", that will begin in September.
Students become social detectives by watching scenes from their favorite movies. These movie clips are discussed in class to evaluate points of character development, facial expressions, body language, and to decide if the characters are following accepted social rules. Popular movies are used in order to keep the student's interest in the lessons. Drama exercises are used to help the student to increase self-awareness, increase spontaneous language, use appropriate tone of voice and inflection, and to increase understanding of non-verbal language. Students can create social improvisation skits, interviews, stories, role-plays, news segments, cooking shows, and much more! Using drama will give students the confidence they need to conquer any social skill situation. Interactive social skill software, movie clips, and a studio set (to develop video clips) are used to enhance social skill lessons. Students are able to watch themselves live on a television while they role-play in front of the camera.
